JSW MG Motor India just gave us the first real look at the Hector Hawk, and it is a bigger deal than a routine teaser drop. Pre-bookings are open right now for ₹21,000, the car is confirmed to launch on August 26, and it is the first product built on MG’s new ADAPT platform. If you have been eyeing a three-row family SUV and were waiting to see what MG had after the Hector Plus, this is the one to watch.

What exactly is the Hector Hawk
MG has not used the “Hector Hawk” name officially yet, but every report from the teaser points the same way: a full-size, three-row SUV that slots in above the existing Hector Plus, built as an India-spec version of the Wuling Starlight 560 that already sells in China. That matters because MG’s parent group, SAIC, shares platforms and hardware across its brands, and this is the first time that sharing shows up in India as a brand-new architecture, called ADAPT.
The teaser itself only shows a silhouette under a cover, but MG has confirmed enough design details to paint a real picture: split LED daytime running lights, a blacked-out grille with chrome inserts, a sculpted bonnet, contrast-coloured skid plates, dual-tone alloys, wraparound LED tail lamps with an integrated spoiler, and a brushed aluminium window line. Inside, expect a beige cabin, a large freestanding touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel. The seating is a proper 2+3+2 layout with adjustable headrests for all three rows, built for actual seven-seat family use, not an occasional-use third row.

EV first, plug-in hybrid to follow
The Hector Hawk is expected to launch as a battery-electric SUV first, with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version to follow. A PHEV is essentially an EV with a small petrol engine on board as backup, so you get electric-only driving for daily use and petrol range for longer trips without worrying about charging stops.
| Variant | Powertrain | Key numbers |
| EV | Battery-electric | 56.7 kWh battery, up to 530 km claimed range |
| PHEV | 1.5L NA petrol + battery | 20.5 kWh battery, 194 bhp and 230 Nm combined output |
Torque, in plain terms, is the twisting force that gets a heavy SUV moving from a standstill, and 230 Nm on the PHEV is a healthy number for a vehicle this size. Treat these as pre-launch figures reported ahead of the reveal rather than final MG-confirmed specs, they should firm up on August 26.
Price and what booking ₹21,000 actually gets you
MG has not announced an official price yet, that comes at the August 26 launch, but industry estimates ahead of the reveal are pointing to somewhere between ₹20 lakh and ₹27 lakh, ex-showroom, depending on variant and powertrain. That would put the Hector Hawk well above the Hector Plus and into territory shared with three-row electric and hybrid SUVs from Tata, Mahindra, and Toyota.
The ₹21,000 amount does not commit you to buying the car, it reserves your spot in the queue and, going by how MG has handled past launches, is typically adjustable against your final price or refundable if you change your mind. If you are seriously considering booking one, run the expected price band through an EMI calculator now, so you know your monthly number before you are standing in a showroom on launch day.
The Hector Hawk is less about one new SUV and more about MG committing to a second product line in India built on fresh underpinnings, not another Hector reskin. That alone makes August 26 worth circling on your calendar.
For now, treat this as confirmed teaser news: the launch date, the booking amount, and the platform are locked in, while exact pricing and the official name are still to come. We will have the full specs and confirmed India pricing the moment MG makes it official.
