The Mahindra XUV 3XO starts at ₹7.79 lakh and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza at ₹7.49 lakh, ex-showroom, and on paper the XUV 3XO wins almost every spec: more power, a diesel engine, and Level 2 ADAS the Brezza doesn’t get. What most comparisons skip is where that ADAS actually sits on the price ladder, and it isn’t anywhere near ₹7.79 lakh. Both are among India’s best-selling compact SUVs and constant cross-shops, so the real question is which one to sign for, and on which variant.
What Each One Costs On the Road in Mumbai
On The Spec’d’s Mumbai on-road price page, the Brezza’s base LXi Turbo Petrol MT comes to about ₹8.68 lakh on the road, against ₹9.07 lakh for the XUV 3XO’s MX1 Petrol MT on its own city price page, a ₹39,000 gap that widens fast once fuel and gearbox options come in, because the two line up very differently.
| Variant pair | Maruti Suzuki Brezza | Mahindra XUV 3XO |
| Cheapest, on-road Mumbai | LXi Turbo Petrol MT: ₹8.68 Lakh | MX1 Petrol MT: ₹9.07 Lakh |
| Cheapest CNG, on-road Mumbai | LXi CNG MT: ₹10.85 Lakh | MX Edge CNG MT: ₹11.59 Lakh |
| Cheapest automatic, on-road Mumbai | VXi Petrol AT: ₹12.41 Lakh | REVX M (O) Petrol AT: ₹11.59 Lakh |
| Cheapest diesel, on-road Mumbai | Not offered | MX2 Diesel MT: ₹11.06 Lakh |
| Top trim, on-road Mumbai | ZXi+ Petrol AT: ₹15.81 Lakh | AX7L TGDi Petrol AT: ₹17.53 Lakh |
These are The Spec’d’s on-road estimates, built from each maker’s ex-showroom price and Maharashtra’s road-tax rules; actual tax and insurance vary by dealer, so confirm the final figure before booking. Both are also cheapest in the same city, Puducherry, at ₹8.52 lakh for the XUV 3XO and ₹8.14 lakh for the Brezza.

The XUV 3XO Has a Diesel. The Brezza Still Doesn’t
Maruti has never sold the Brezza with a diesel engine, and the facelift hasn’t changed that. The XUV 3XO offers a 1.5-litre diesel (117 PS, 300 Nm) from the MX2 Diesel MT at ₹9.36 lakh ex-showroom, claiming 20.6 kmpl on a manual and 21.2 kmpl on the AMT, per ARAI. If you drive mostly highway and clock big monthly distances, that’s the one real engine option the Brezza simply can’t match.
Mahindra’s own best-value pick among the 31 XUV 3XO variants is the AX5 Diesel MT, at ₹11.4 lakh ex-showroom (₹13.55 lakh on the road in Mumbai). It adds a digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, Alexa-linked connected features and 16-inch alloys over the base diesel, but skips the panoramic sunroof and leatherette seats reserved for the pricier AX7 trims.
Level 2 ADAS Costs ₹12.03 Lakh in the XUV 3XO, Not ₹7.79 Lakh
This is the detail most comparisons skip. The XUV 3XO’s Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist and auto emergency braking among its ten functions, isn’t on the MX1 base trim or most of the mid-range. It first appears on the AX5L TGDi Petrol MT at ₹12.03 lakh ex-showroom, and on diesel only from the AX7L Diesel MT at ₹14.08 lakh (₹16.70 lakh on the road in Mumbai). Pick the AX7 TGDi Petrol MT one rung below at ₹12.2 lakh instead, and you get a panoramic sunroof and Harman Kardon audio, but no ADAS at all.
The Brezza facelift doesn’t offer that fuller Level 2 system on any variant. CarDekho’s review of the 2026 facelift found only Level 1 driver-assist functions, such as blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alerts, not the adaptive cruise control that rivals in the segment now carry. So the realistic comparison isn’t ADAS versus no ADAS, it’s a ₹12.03-lakh-plus XUV 3XO with real Level 2 ADAS against a Brezza that tops out at warning lights.

Running Costs: Where the Brezza Wins Back Ground
The Brezza’s naturally-aspirated petrol is the more efficient engine of the two. Its manual claims 21.09 kmpl against the XUV 3XO’s 18.89 kmpl on the equivalent 1.2-litre manual, a real difference in fuel spend over a year of city driving.
| Fuel and gearbox | Claimed mileage (ARAI) | Running cost per 1,000 km |
| Brezza, Petrol MT (1.5L) | 21.09 kmpl | ₹4,740 |
| Brezza, Petrol AT | 20.17 kmpl | ₹4,960 |
| Brezza, CNG MT | 26.90 km/kg | ₹2,970 |
| XUV 3XO, Petrol MT (1.2L) | 18.89 kmpl | ₹5,290 |
| XUV 3XO, Petrol AT (TGDi) | 18.2 kmpl | ₹5,490 |
| XUV 3XO, Diesel MT | 20.6 kmpl | ₹4,370 |
| XUV 3XO, Diesel AMT | 21.2 kmpl | ₹4,250 |
Figures are from the Brezza’s mileage page and the XUV 3XO’s mileage page, worked out at ₹100 a litre of petrol, ₹90 a litre of diesel and ₹80 a kg of CNG; everyday mileage usually runs lower once traffic and air-conditioning are factored in. One gap worth flagging: Mahindra hasn’t published an ARAI figure for the XUV 3XO’s CNG variants at all, so there’s nothing to set against the Brezza’s claimed 26.90 km/kg.
Safety: A Closer Match Than the ADAS Gap Suggests
Both get 6 airbags standard from the base variant, and both carry a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, on different test cycles though: the XUV 3XO in 2024 (29.36/32 adult, 43/49 child), the Brezza in 2026 (30.41/32 adult, 43/49 child). The scores aren’t a direct ranking across different years, but neither gives up ground on crash safety. The Brezza’s 5-star rating covers its petrol versions only; the CNG Brezza isn’t on Bharat NCAP’s list at all.
The XUV 3XO’s edge is real-world practicality: a 364-litre boot against the Brezza’s 328 litres, and 201 mm of ground clearance against 198 mm.

Which Variant to Actually Buy
Want ADAS? The XUV 3XO’s AX5L TGDi Petrol MT at ₹12.03 lakh ex-showroom is the cheapest way in. Want the diesel instead? Mahindra’s own best-value pick is the AX5 Diesel MT at ₹11.4 lakh ex-showroom, though you give up ADAS to get it.
On the Brezza side, Maruti marks the ZXi Turbo Petrol MT, ₹9.95 lakh ex-showroom (₹11.48 lakh on the road in Mumbai), as its own best-value pick. It adds an electric sunroof, LED headlamps, cruise control, push-button start, a wireless charger and blind-spot warning over the VXi Turbo, for ₹1.3 lakh more. Skip the ZXi+ Turbo one step up unless you specifically want the 360-degree camera and head-up display; at ₹11.26 lakh it’s a ₹1.31 lakh jump for features most buyers will barely touch.
Buy the XUV 3XO if you actually want the diesel or will pay up to the AX5L/AX7L trims for real ADAS. Buy the Brezza’s ZXi Turbo if you want the lowest running cost and don’t care that the safety tech stops at warning beeps.
Both sit in The Spec’d’s list of every compact SUV on sale in India; for the full spec-by-spec breakdown, see the XUV 3XO vs Brezza comparison page.
Which is cheaper, the XUV 3XO or the Brezza?
The Brezza is cheaper at every comparable trim level. Its base LXi Turbo Petrol MT comes to about ₹8.68 lakh on the road in Mumbai against ₹9.07 lakh for the XUV 3XO’s MX1 Petrol MT, a ₹39,000 gap that widens further up the range.
Does the Maruti Brezza have ADAS?
Not the full Level 2 system the XUV 3XO offers. CarDekho’s review of the 2026 facelift found only Level 1 functions, such as blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alerts, with no adaptive cruise control on any Brezza variant.
Which variant of the XUV 3XO gets Level 2 ADAS?
Only the AX5L and AX7L trims, starting with the AX5L TGDi Petrol MT at ₹12.03 lakh ex-showroom. On diesel, ADAS is limited to the AX7L Diesel MT at ₹14.08 lakh ex-showroom. Every trim below that, including the entire AX7 (non-L) range, skips it.
