Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 vs Triumph Speed 400: Why a 40% Tax Didn’t Stop One From Nearly Matching the Other’s Price

Why it stands out
- At Rs 2.55 lakh ex-showroom Delhi it is the cheapest way into a Bonneville, and it keeps the same 349 cc, 29 PS, 31.2 Nm engine as the dearer T40.
- The Bonneville look comes in full: teardrop tank, twin shocks, wire-spoke wheels, a peashooter silencer and a round LED headlight with a daytime running light.
- A round 4-inch colour LCD with turn-by-turn navigation and phone and music control is standard, along with ABS and traction control.
- Friendly to ride: a 790 mm seat, a 14.5 L tank and a long 16,000 km service interval.
- Three solid colours, Competition Green, Carnival Red and Phantom Black, keep the classic look simple.
Worth knowing
- Deliveries only start from mid January 2027, roughly two months after the T40, so it is a long wait after the Rs 4,999 refundable booking.
- It gives up the T40's cruise control and its lean-sensitive (cornering) ABS and traction control, and has three riding modes where the T40 has five.
- At 195 kg ready to ride it is heavy for a 350, and the spoked wheels run tubed tyres, so punctures are a slower fix.
- Even at this price it costs noticeably more than the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda CB350, which sit between roughly Rs 1.9 lakh and Rs 2.3 lakh.
