Ducati Monster vs Triumph Street Triple RS: Is the Italian Badge Worth ₹1.8 Lakh More?
Aug 16, 2026The Spec'd take
Why it stands out
- Ducati's new 890 cc V2 makes 120.4 PS and 94 Nm, and Ducati says more than 70 percent of that torque is there by 3,000 rpm.
- At 180 kg without fuel (177 kg for the SP), it is 13 kg lighter than the Hypermotard 950 it replaces, helped by a new aluminium monocoque frame.
- A six-axis IMU runs four-level cornering ABS with a slide-by-brake setting, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and a two-way quickshifter as standard.
- At Rs 16.53 lakh ex-showroom, the standard bike costs less than Ducati's single-cylinder Hypermotard 698 Mono.
- Valve clearance checks come every 45,000 km, a long interval for a performance twin.
Worth knowing
- The SP costs Rs 4.25 lakh more, and it is the only version with Ohlins suspension, forged wheels, launch control and the pit limiter.
- The 880 mm seat is tall; Ducati's accessory low seat brings it to 865 mm, and 850 mm also needs the low suspension kit.
- A 12.5 litre tank limits how far it goes between fuel stops.
- Cruise control, navigation and heated grips are accessories, not standard.
