Hyundai Motor India launched the Bayon today at a starting ex-showroom price of ₹9,99,900, with the range running up to about ₹18 lakh across seven trims. Everyone is printing the headline “₹10 lakh,” but the number that actually matters is this: that starting price lands exactly where Hyundai already prices a mid-spec Venue, and the priciest Bayon costs more than the priciest Venue does. Two weeks after Hyundai confirmed the Bayon was coming to India, the company now has three SUVs stacked on top of each other in price.

Hyundai Bayon Price in India: Every Variant
The Bayon comes with only one engine: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the same unit used in the Creta and Verna, making 115 PS and 144 Nm. A 6-speed manual is standard across the range; Hyundai’s iVT automatic is optional only from the HX5 trim upward, never on the three cheapest variants. Claimed ARAI mileage on the iVT is 18.6 kmpl, a lab figure from Hyundai’s own homologation, not an independent test. No outlet has published a real-world mileage figure yet since the car only launched today, so treat 18.6 kmpl as a claimed number until one does.
| Variant | Petrol MT | Petrol iVT |
| HX2 | ₹10.00 Lakh | Not offered |
| HX3 | ₹10.90 Lakh | Not offered |
| HX3 Plus | ₹11.80 Lakh | Not offered |
| HX5 | ₹12.45 Lakh | ₹13.85 Lakh |
| HX6 | ₹13.57 Lakh | ₹14.97 Lakh |
| HX8 | ₹15.10 Lakh | ₹16.54 Lakh |
| HX10 | ₹16.65 Lakh | ₹18.00 Lakh |
Prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi, as announced by Hyundai at launch.
Equipment is genuinely strong for the money: Hyundai’s SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS suite with 23 features across three radars, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual 12.3-inch curved screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker Bose system, and six airbags standard on every single trim, not just the top one. The boot measures 505 litres, enough for two medium check-in suitcases stacked with a backpack on top, going by Hyundai’s own cabin shots.

Hyundai is leaning hard on a generative AI voice assistant for this launch, built with Perplexity and SoundHound and accelerated by Nvidia hardware inside the infotainment unit. Say “Hey Hyundai” and it answers general questions, not just cabin commands. The official reveal film below walks through the exterior, cabin and that AI demo.
Where the Bayon Actually Sits Against the Venue and Creta
Hyundai calls the Bayon a new nameplate to strengthen its leadership in the compact-SUV segment. The price ladder tells a sharper story. On The Spec’d’s own pricing data for the Venue, the HX5+ Petrol MT variant costs ₹9.99 Lakh ex-showroom, the same figure, to the rupee, as the new Bayon’s entry trim. The Venue’s own range tops out at ₹15.65 Lakh for the HX10 Diesel AT, while the Bayon’s HX10 iVT costs ₹18 Lakh, ₹2.35 Lakh past where the Venue stops. And the Creta, Hyundai’s next SUV up, starts at ₹10.91 Lakh ex-showroom, so the Bayon’s base undercuts it by less than a lakh.
| Model and variant | Ex-showroom price |
| Hyundai Venue HX2 Petrol MT (cheapest Venue) | ₹7.99 Lakh |
| Hyundai Bayon HX2 Petrol MT (cheapest Bayon) | ₹10.00 Lakh |
| Hyundai Venue HX5+ Petrol MT | ₹9.99 Lakh |
| Hyundai Creta E Petrol MT (cheapest Creta) | ₹10.91 Lakh |
| Hyundai Venue HX10 Diesel AT (priciest Venue) | ₹15.65 Lakh |
| Hyundai Bayon HX10 Petrol iVT (priciest Bayon) | ₹18.00 Lakh |
In Mumbai, the base Venue comes to about ₹9.31 Lakh on the road, on The Spec’d’s city price pages, which works out to roughly ₹15,644 a month on a 5-year loan with 20 percent down. The base Bayon costs more ex-showroom than that already, so its on-road price in any city will land higher still. Hyundai hasn’t published city-wise on-road figures yet; The Spec’d will add them once dealers confirm RTO and insurance costs for the Bayon.
Which Variant to Buy
Skip hunting for an automatic below HX5. Hyundai doesn’t offer the iVT gearbox on the HX2, HX3 or HX3 Plus at any price, so the only route to a clutch-free Bayon is the HX5 iVT at ₹13.85 Lakh, a ₹3.85 Lakh jump over the base manual. Within the petrol-manual range, the price ladder flattens hardest between HX3 Plus and HX5, just ₹65,000 apart, the smallest single step on the whole sheet, before it widens again toward HX6 and HX8. That makes the HX5 MT, at ₹12.45 Lakh, the variant worth aiming for if you want the Bayon’s halo features without paying for the trims above it. Hyundai hadn’t published a full trim-wise feature sheet at launch time, so confirm exact equipment on the configurator before booking.

What the Bayon Skips at Launch
Two real gaps. There is no diesel engine anywhere in the Bayon’s line-up. Buyers who want one still have to look at the Venue, which offers diesel from ₹9.95 Lakh. And CNG, the fuel driving much of this festive season’s compact-SUV shopping, won’t arrive on the Bayon until January 2027, on Hyundai’s own timeline. For now this is a petrol-only car with two gearbox choices and nothing else, a narrower line-up than most of what the compact-SUV segment already sells.

Hyundai Bayon FAQs
What is the on-road price of the Hyundai Bayon?
Hyundai has announced only ex-showroom prices so far, from ₹9,99,900 to about ₹18 Lakh. On-road figures, which add RTO road tax, insurance and FASTag, will run higher and vary by state. The Spec’d will publish city-wise on-road prices once Hyundai’s dealer network confirms them.
Does the Hyundai Bayon get a diesel or CNG option?
No, not at launch. The Bayon is petrol-only, with a 1.5-litre engine and a manual or iVT automatic gearbox. Hyundai has confirmed a factory-fitted CNG version for January 2027; no diesel engine has been announced for the Bayon.
Is the Hyundai Bayon bigger than the Venue?
Not by much, and it isn’t simply a larger Venue. The Bayon measures 4,245 mm long on a 2,600 mm wheelbase with a 505-litre boot, Hyundai’s own launch figures. Its ex-showroom pricing overlaps the Venue rather than sitting cleanly above it, so the two are best cross-shopped on features and trim rather than assumed on size.
