The Mahindra Scorpio N starts at ₹16.16 Lakh on the road in Mumbai, and ₹1.74 Lakh less in Surat, the cheapest of the 39 cities The Spec’d prices. Nothing about the car changes between those two cities. The state’s road tax does. Here is exactly what every variant costs on the road, where it is cheapest to register, and which trim is actually worth buying.

Mahindra Scorpio N On-Road Price, City by City
The base Z2 Petrol MT costs the same ₹13.69 Lakh ex-showroom everywhere in India. What changes from state to state is the road tax, and across 39 cities that swings the on-road price by ₹1.74 Lakh.
| City | On-Road Price | Road Tax |
| Surat, Gujarat (cheapest) | ₹15.33 Lakh | 6% |
| Ahmedabad, Gujarat | ₹15.34 Lakh | 6% |
| New Delhi | ₹15.89 Lakh | 10% |
| Mumbai, Maharashtra | ₹16.16 Lakh | 12% |
| Bengaluru, Karnataka | ₹16.86 Lakh | 17% |
| Chennai, Tamil Nadu | ₹17.01 Lakh | 18% |
| Hyderabad, Telangana | ₹17.04 Lakh | 18% |
| Vijayawada & Visakhapatnam, AP (costliest) | ₹17.07 Lakh | 18.7% |
Gujarat charges the least road tax on a car at this price, Andhra Pradesh the most, which is the entire reason the Scorpio N costs ₹1.74 Lakh more in Vijayawada than in Surat. Surat’s own price page breaks it down: ₹13.69 Lakh ex-showroom, ₹82,140 road tax, and roughly ₹67,000 more for insurance and accessories.

Which Scorpio N Variant Is Actually Worth Buying
Buy the Z8S Diesel MT. At ₹18.79 Lakh ex-showroom, ₹22.45 Lakh on the road in Mumbai, it is the cheapest trim with 6 airbags, the 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a sunroof, 17-inch alloys and LED headlamps. Step down to the Z4 or Z6 and you are back to an 8-inch screen and a 7-inch instrument cluster.

Skip the Z8L unless you specifically want its safety kit. It is the only trim with the panoramic Skyroof, the 540-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS, but that pushes the price to ₹21.31 Lakh ex-showroom, ₹2.52 Lakh above the Z8S. And on the manual gearbox, that ADAS drops adaptive cruise control entirely, leaving only emergency braking and lane-keep assist. You only get the full system, including adaptive cruise with stop and go, on the automatic.
Is the Diesel Worth ₹50,000 More?
The Z2 Diesel MT costs ₹50,000 more ex-showroom than the Z2 Petrol MT. On The Spec’d’s mileage page, the petrol works out to ₹6,490 per 1,000 km at its claimed 15.42 kmpl, against ₹5,840 per 1,000 km for the diesel, a ₹650 saving per 1,000 km. Do the math and you would need to drive about 77,000 km, roughly four years at 20,000 km a year, before that saving covers the extra ₹50,000. Buy the diesel for its highway pulling power, not to save money.
What Does the EMI Come To?
On the Z2 Petrol MT’s ₹16.16 Lakh Mumbai on-road price, with 20% down and a 5-year loan at 9.5% interest, the EMI works out to about ₹27,156 a month, on The Spec’d’s estimate. Change the down payment or loan tenure and that number moves with it; actual rates vary by bank and credit profile.
