BMW i5 LWB Review: ₹79.60 Lakh Buys India’s First Electric 5 Series, Not a Full Luxury Sedan

Why it stands out
- The M60's 601 hp and 3.8 seconds to 100 kph in a car that will still waft your parents to a wedding is a rare combination at any price in India.
- The 8 year or 1,60,000 km high-voltage cell warranty takes real sting out of the biggest what-if in Indian EV ownership.
- It is quicker than an M5 was two generations ago, and quiet enough that the Bowers and Wilkins system actually earns its keep crawling through Mumbai.
- The locally assembled eDrive35L brings a roomier long wheelbase and a 669 km MIDC claimed range for Rs 79.60 lakh, far less than the M60.
Worth knowing
- Autocar India found the 516 km WLTP claim collapses to roughly 300 km if you use the performance, so the expensive hot rod is also the one you drive gently.
- The eDrive35L is a single-motor, rear-wheel drive car with 268 PS; all-wheel drive and the big performance stay with the Rs 1.19 crore M60.
- The M60 costs Rs 1.19 crore, about Rs 43 lakh more than a petrol 5 Series LWB, and the 200 kW chargers it can use are still thin outside the top few cities.
