Mercedes-Benz Warns It Will Close a German Assembly Plant and Engine Factory Unless Costs Come Down
Sep 22, 2026The Spec'd take
Why it stands out
- The fabric acoustic soft top opens and closes electrically at speeds up to 60 km/h, and AIRSCARF neck heating plus the AIRCAP wind deflector are standard, so open-top driving is usable through most of the year
- It is the most affordable convertible in the Mercedes-Benz India line-up at Rs 1.16 crore, and the AMG Line look with 19-inch AMG wheels comes with it
- Loaded as standard: head-up display, DIGITAL LIGHT, 17-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound, memory front seats, climatised front seats and a 360-degree camera are all included in the price
- A 2.0-litre turbo with a 48V mild hybrid makes 258 hp and 400 Nm from 2,000 rpm, so it pulls smoothly, and 4MATIC all-wheel drive keeps it composed when the road gets slippery
Worth knowing
- At 6.6 seconds to 100 km/h it is brisk rather than quick, and the AMG CLE 53 Coupe has about 190 hp more for Rs 18 lakh extra
- Mercedes lists DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control only as a pre-installation, so the highway driver-assist package is lighter than the price suggests
- The emergency spare wheel and automatic boot separator keep luggage space modest with the roof down, and Mercedes-Benz India does not publish a boot figure
- Only one version and one engine are offered, and the MANUFAKTUR paints are pricey: Graphite Grey Magno adds Rs 2.96 lakh and Alpine Grey Solid Rs 1.75 lakh
